A tribute to the wild voice of the great Etta James, a fundamental singer of the 1950s, a time when rhythm blues was beginning to transform into rock & roll or move closer to jazz. Like many other performers, she began singing gospel in a neighbourhood church before gradually moving toward blues and later the rhythm & blues of the era, becoming one of the great protagonists of blues and soul in the second half of the 20th century. The ferocity of her voice evokes that of a wild child.
